For singer-songwriter Julie Aguas, writing and creating is a form of survival. After an 11-year battle with infertility and the loss of 9 pregnancies, songs suddenly began appearing to her, demanding to be written.
For her, these songs provided a way to purge raw emotions and to process grief, heartbreak, and a sense of utter isolation. As each song emerged, it moved her further along on a path of healing. This led Julie to want to share the songs with others so that those going through similar struggles would feel less alone.
Her first album, “The Weather,” released in 2015, consists of 9 songs which illuminate the torment of infertility and pregnancy loss. Her second album, “Integration,” released in 2017, is a collection of 14 songs which navigate the triumphs and pitfalls on the road to healing from loss. In 2018, her song “Shatter the Stigma” was featured during the closing credits of the documentary “Don’t Talk About the Baby.”
Julie’s mission is to create music that people can connect with and enjoy. If her songs could help people to heal from their own grief, then it would be a dream come true.
